St James Street, Dover A fascinating hint of old Dover on this short street at the foot of the castle hill. The White Horse dates back to the 14th century (although most of the visible building is 19th century). The remains of St James' Church, which was destroyed by enemy action in the Second World War, are preserved as a monument to the people of Dover.
