Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church

The Primitive Baptist Church, as constructed in 1887. The church was originally called the Cades Cove Baptist Church and established in 1827 although a physical church was not constructed until 1832. Members initially met in their homes. This is the oldest of three churches at Cades Cove. In the 1840s the congregation experienced a major split due to different religious interpretations regarding temperance societies, Sunday School, and missionary work.The church was renamed the Primitive Baptist Church when This church was actively in use up to the 1960s.
